About our service

Is My Policy Partner an insurance company?

No. We're a quote request service. We pass your request to insurance companies, agencies and licensed agents in our network, and they provide the quotes and sell the policies.

What happens when I call?

A licensed insurance agent from our network answers, asks a few questions about you and the coverage you want, and explains your options in plain language. Calls may be recorded. The call is free and you're never obligated to buy.

Does it cost anything?

No. Calling and requesting quotes are free, and you're never obligated to buy.

Who will contact me?

One or more of our marketing partners may call, text or email you using the details you entered. The full list is on our partners page.

How do you use my information?

We use it to match you with partners who can quote the coverage you asked about. Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect, who we share it with and your choices.

How do I stop calls or texts?

Reply STOP to any text, ask the caller to add you to their do-not-call list, or send us an opt-out request and we'll stop sharing your information going forward.

Do you show prices on the site?

No. Prices depend on your details and each insurer's underwriting, so only a licensed agent or insurer can give you a quote.

Auto insurance

How much auto coverage do I need?

Every state sets a legal minimum, but many drivers choose more. If you have a loan or lease, your lender will usually require collision and comprehensive. An agent can walk you through what fits your car and budget.

Will requesting quotes affect my credit?

Requesting quotes through our form does not run a hard credit check. Some insurers use a credit-based insurance score when they write a policy, which is a soft inquiry that does not affect your credit score.

Can I switch insurers in the middle of my policy?

Usually, yes. Most insurers let you cancel at any time and refund any unused premium. Set up your new policy first so you have no gap in coverage.

Home insurance

Does home insurance cover floods?

Standard homeowners policies usually exclude flood damage. Flood coverage is sold separately, through the National Flood Insurance Program or private insurers. Ask the agent who contacts you about it.

Is home insurance required?

No state law requires it, but mortgage lenders almost always do. Even without a mortgage, it protects what is likely your largest asset.

What's the difference between replacement cost and actual cash value?

Replacement cost pays to replace items with new ones of similar quality. Actual cash value subtracts depreciation, so the payout is lower.

Health insurance

When can I enroll?

Open Enrollment for Marketplace plans usually runs from November 1 to January 15 in most states. Outside that window you need a qualifying life event, such as losing other coverage, moving, marriage or having a baby.

Can I be turned down for a pre-existing condition?

Marketplace (ACA) plans cannot deny you or charge more because of a pre-existing condition. Short-term and some supplemental plans can.

Is this HealthCare.gov?

No. My Policy Partner is a private quote service and is not affiliated with HealthCare.gov or any government agency.

Life insurance

How much life insurance do I need?

A common starting point is enough to replace several years of income, pay off debts like a mortgage, and cover future costs such as a child's education. An agent can help you work out a number that fits.

Do I need a medical exam?

Not always. Many insurers offer policies without an exam, using your answers and records instead. Exam-based policies can sometimes offer better rates.

Can I get coverage over 65?

Yes. Term options narrow with age, but whole life and final expense policies are widely available for older applicants.

Medicare

When can I sign up for Medicare?

Your Initial Enrollment Period is the 7 months around your 65th birthday: 3 months before, your birthday month, and 3 months after. The Annual Enrollment Period runs October 15 to December 7 each year.

Is My Policy Partner part of Medicare?

No. We are a private quote service, not affiliated with or endorsed by the federal Medicare program. For all of your options, you can also contact Medicare.gov or 1-800-MEDICARE (TTY 1-877-486-2048).

Does it cost anything to talk to an agent?

Speaking with an agent through our service is free and there's no obligation to enroll.
